"I'm pretty Knowledgeable about the literature available on the subject.

"Other than a book by jimmy morrow on the history of the ‘jesus name’ serpent handling movement, this is the only book ever written by a serpent handler himself.

"Cody telling his story is, In that way, a significant, important addition to the library available on this unique religious faith."

Coming New Year's Eve!

Marked for Life – a new series by Alabama Astronaut:

Fourth-generation serpent handler Cody Coots' childhood was surprisingly normal: a Huffy bike, playing drums on pots and pans in the kitchen, and watching WWE Wrestling with his dad – the famous serpent handling preacher, Jamie Coots.

But when a real-life monster walks into Cody's life, inflicting countless acts of unimaginable abuse upon the boy, Cody writes, “Just as there is a God who is all-powerful and all-loving…there is also a Devil who is evil beyond imagining…”

From his childhood spent mimicking serpent handlers by using belts as replacements, to dirty deeds done in the hollers around Harlan, Kentucky, this is a modern snapshot of life in the Appalachians near the Cumberland Gap In the Age of information.
